Bonfire on the Talyllyn
One of the many functions of the Membership and Activities Committee is to organise social events for members of the society. While we now may be out of the running season these social events have by no means abated.
In late October the society held its annual bonfire and fireworks display in a field close to Rhydyronen station. The event was well-attended and blessed by dry and (relatively) clear weather. For the price of their ticket members were treated to hot food, a fireworks display (photo by Barbara Fuller, above) and one of the largest bonfires in the area - composed mostly of old sleepers and boscage from the lineside.
If you’ve never been to this event it’s well worth coming along next year and there will always be plenty to do on the Railway for the rest of the associated weekend!
Thoughts are now turning to the New Year and, back by popular request, this year members of the TRPS are invited to celebrate the New Year at Abergynolwyn Station! There will be food, entertainment, a bar, and dancing.
See message boards in the Guard’s Room at Wharf and in the Mess Room at Pendre for train times and ticket prices (or check on social media). If none of these work for you: contact the committee using the details listed at the back of the News. Tickets can be bought at Wharf Booking Office.
Please note that you will need to have bought your ticket by 12pm (mid-day) on Saturday 30th December to be guaranteed food on the evening.
